About Teak

Teak holds the place which the diamond maintains among precious stones,
and gold among metals"

Dietrich Brandis, 1855.

The Teak Tree is a tropical hardwood birch, part of the family Verbenaceae and is originally from South East Asia. The Teak can grow as high as 30-40m and can live to an age of 100 years.
The most relevant characteristic of Teak is its natural resilience to all kinds of weather and is one of the reasons that, unlike other woods, it is often used as the main material for both indoor and outdoor furniture. Other great characteristics of teak are its elasticity and good amounts of solid fibre. Teak also has special oil content which allows the wood to gleam – Teak has antibacterial characteristics and will not become brittle.
